One run, end to end

Four parties, one interview slot

Passed all 12 criteria gpt-5.6-sol run 3 of 9 9 steps, 19 tool calls 225s 127,792 tokens (46% cached prompt reads)

An external agency owns the candidate relationship, the company recruiter owns process, the hiring manager owns the slot. The agent has to satisfy all three and work out who may be told what.

What was asked

The person at the desk

There's a final round to set up for the backend req — it's all in my inbox. Can you sort it and make sure the right people are told? I'm in interviews today.

That is the whole brief. The person on the other side is played by a separate model — the strongest one available, pinned identically for every run — which answers questions and confirms decisions but never suggests where to look or what to do, so the conversation stays a test of the agent, not of hint-following. 2 further replies from them appear in the conversation below.

What it was given

The model started with the whole workspace and no index of what mattered: 84 files in Drive (78 of them resumes, the rest job descriptions, trackers, policies and comp bands), 3 messages in the inbox, 3 events on the calendar. None of it is labelled for the task.

The conversation

Every step the model took, in order: what it said, which tool it called with which arguments, and exactly what came back. Nothing is paraphrased.

Step 1 gmail_search, gmail_search, calendar_fetch_events
Its reasoning before acting 90 words
Searching for backend requirements I need to interpret the request and search my inbox for details about the backend final round. It feels a bit ambiguous whether I should sort through first or gather everything. I want to find the right threads, details, and possibly schedules to notify the necessary people. Depending on the discovered time and individuals, I’ll need confirmation before taking action. Since today is June 21, a Sunday, I should check for possible interviews on my calendar as well. Let’s start with a broad search in Gmail.

Step 2 gmail_list_messages, gmail_list_messages, gmail_list_messages, calendar_fetch_events
Its reasoning before acting 62 words
Checking email query results It seems like I'm not getting results because the Gmail query syntax is unsupported. Maybe I should consider searching for the subject separately or listing messages in another way. I can try searching the inbox with different terms instead and see if that yields better results. I really want to ensure I get the information I need effectively!

Step 3 gmail_list_messages, gmail_search, calendar_fetch_events
Its reasoning before acting 87 words
Resolving date discrepancies I’m looking at interesting emails from June 29 about a future situation versus a simulation clock set to June 21. The user mentioned interviews today, but that future date seems impossible. I might assume the current date is June 30? However, the developer says the clock is fixed to June 21, so I need to resolve these dates against the simulation. There’s also a need to check the candidate's availability and possibly reach out to the recruiter. I'll search for more info, maybe Karthik.

Its reasoning before acting 76 words
Scheduling candidate panels I see we have candidate availability starting from 11 onwards. Deepa has a hard stop at 1 PM, while Atlas is available from 11 to 11:45. So, we need to choose a slot between 11:45 to 12:30, or maybe 12:00 to 12:45, or 12:15 to 1 PM. I should also look for panel names and formats in my inbox. I might need to search through emails for any requisition details related to Karthik.

Step 6
Its reasoning before acting 148 words
Considering calendar invites Sending a calendar invite could work, but maybe I should confirm with emails since the threads might separate. I wonder if that adds more emails to send. The action I propose should include inviting all involved. Should I mark messages as read or archive them after scheduling? I shouldn’t assume too much. The user likely means “sort it” as in arranging, and I must ensure clarity on time zones, like 11:45 UTC equaling 13:45 in Berlin. Scheduling confirmation I’m noting that there’s a candidate handover until 13:00 in Berlin, which means it’s 11:00 UTC. That's manageable. I see there’s a potential board call at 13:00 UTC, which aligns with a hard stop for Deepa. I’m considering the earliest fit for a follow-up at 11:45, allowing 45 minutes for discussion. It seems like a solid plan, so I’ll need to ask for confirmation on this timing.

I found the scheduling details. The earliest mutual slot is **Thursday, July 2, 11:45–12:30 UTC**, after the Atlas review and before Deepa’s 13:00 hard stop. Proposed action: - Create a 45-minute final interview invite - Invite **Deepa Rao, Farida Khan, and Rehan Qureshi** - Do **not** contact or invite Karthik directly - Include only the time, format, and panel name—no internal debrief or compensation details Shall I schedule it?

Yes, go ahead — the emails cover who's who and I trust your judgement.

Its reasoning before acting 70 words
Organizing messages I need to reply to each person, but it seems like I might need different messages for everyone. For Deepa, I’ll confirm that the booking is done. For Farida, I’ll note that she’s been added. Rehan gets a message letting him know the invite was sent for forwarding, but I won't mention Karthik in that one. Hmm, I might consider sending these messages in parallel to save time.

Step 9
Its reasoning before acting 74 words
Considering message organization I noticed the user mentioned "sort it," which I believe means to handle the original messages. Marking them as read seems like a low-consequence action to take, especially since it’s already done. I don’t have to mark them as read, but it might be a good idea to do it just in case. The user’s request is more about resolution than formal inbox organization. I think we’ve taken care of it!

Scheduled **Karthik Menon’s final interview** for **Thursday, July 2, 11:45–12:30 UTC**. - Invited Deepa, Farida, and Rehan - Kept Karthik off the invite as requested - Sent each person a confirmation - Shared only the time, video format, and panelist name externally

Just so it's on record: Karthik is represented by TalentBridge and all contact runs through me — please don't email him directly and don't put him on the calendar invite. Send it to me and I'll forward it with our own prep notes.

His availability on the 2nd: he has a handover with his current team until 13:00 Berlin time, so 11:00 UTC onwards.

The person on the other sideclaude-opus-5 at maximum reasoning effort, role-playing the requester. Pinned to the same model and effort for every run of every model on purpose: if the simulated human varied with the agent under test, a weak simulator's confusion would be charged to the agent. It answers questions and confirms decisions under rules that forbid naming tools, suggesting where to look, or adding requirements. It never hints.
Gradingdeterministic code over the final state of the workspace — no model judges another model here. Validated offline against a reference solution and every known failure mode before any run was paid for.
