Research Assistant
Detect and extract information about juvenile tuna schools and individual species from aerial imagery - done using texture analysis approach. Low-res and blurry images allow only to detect schools. A variety of filters will be expored such as Gabor, Haralick-Tamura features, Local Fourier Histogram, Local Binary Pattern, steerable filter banks, etc. Optimal combinations of weak classifiers are going to be determined by means of genetic programming. Final supervised classifcation of ortho-rectified geo-located imagery will be performed by the support vector machine techniques.
