I was presented with a great opportunity on Preply, I could combine and hone skills that I used daily, (English Speaking and teaching) to help students all over the world improve their skills. I believe that because of my previous experiences adapting to teaching different cultures was easier, although it was interesting to see how explaining topics for different cultures, ages, and languages can be a completely different teaching dynamic. On the other hand, learning how to adapt to different systems and get a point across in a video call was enriching to me as a teacher and my students who could benefit from these skills. Something that`s amazing about working online is that we have a community everywhere, I could travel the whole world from the home office while contributing to students' results in their lives. The best part is seeing them work on and achieve goals such as the following: - Moving to a new country with their family, - Getting the dream job - Feeling confident in the job interview - Communicating clearly with family and friends - Speaking fluently after a few months even though starting at a beginner level I believe Preply together with many amazing teachers is changing the way of teaching for the better, by making high-quality classes accessible to everyone everywhere.

China was my first full-time experience as an English communication teacher. The difference from my experience in the USA was the language barrier. I had to remember what was it like to learn a language from the very beginning. The most gratifying was seeing the progress my students and I were making, them in English and me in Chinese. As a teacher, I've learned that listening is a fundamental skill, most importantly active listening. Student can tell their challenges in many different ways, being attentive and taking action to support them in their learning journey is essential for their development. Another great lesson was organizing classes for groups and yet thinking about each student to make sure they're progressing together. No student is left behind. With that comes the importance of identifying their levels of different skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing as well as communicating ideas, plans, opinions, or processes). It was an honor to teach in China, my students were truly delightful.

As an au pair, I had the opportunity to further my knowledge of the English language through an immersion experience while taking care of the kids and managing their daily activities. The biggest takeaway from this experience was the exposure to so many different cultures because that taught me that diversity is one of the greatest strengths of a country. I also learned how important organized and clear communication is, for the success of a team. Be it a family or a company. For example, the way to approach a conversation can change depending on who we're communicating with.
