Amir Shazlan is an experienced software engineer with over 18 years of relevant experience, half of which has been devoted to software testing. He is a hands-on leader who has set up QA functions within development teams and is comfortable creating testing strategies from scratch. Amir has led teams of testers and mentored and coached junior ones. Amir is well-versed in data science and DevOps practices and is an AWS Community Builder. He is also an organizer of the Ministry of Testing (Kuala Lumpur) meetup group. Currently, Amir is the Head of Software Engineering at Petronas Digital Sdn Bhd, where he enables the successful delivery of a portfolio of initiatives for a particular product area. He works with development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle, from planning and requirements to deployment and operations management. Amir is actively involved in helping to define and shape the features and products that his team is working to deliver, almost always alongside a Product Manager. Amir shares key insights with stakeholders on the progress of an initiative or feature from inception to delivery and into production. He enhances the visibility of development efforts and provides regular insights through metrics, charts, and status reports. This allows key stakeholders to stay informed and make better business and product decisions. Prior to his current role, Amir worked at Randstad as a Software Test Lead, where he created and implemented organizational test processes, designed and executed tests for new products, and coached agile teams on agile testing. He also managed and guided a small team of testers and built a test automation framework for enabling better agile delivery. Amir also worked at BT as a Test Designer, where he led a test team, designed tests, and executed them for internal BT network-based products. Amir holds an MSc in Real-Time Software Engineering from the Center for Advanced Software Engineering (CASE) and a BSc in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He also attended The Malay College from 1993 to 1997. Amir's technical skills include test, AWS, QA, product management, data science, DevOps, infra, SDET, and design.
