Aniraj Kesavan is a highly skilled Distributed Systems and Observability expert with over 7 years of experience in developing and operating massively distributed storage systems. He is currently working as a Lead Software Engineer at Salesforce, where he is developing Argus as part of the Observability platform. Aniraj has a strong research interest in In Memory Databases in the context of modern hardware, with a focus on low-latency, high bandwidth, kernel bypass capable NICs. He is also interested in Distributed Systems, Datacenter Storage, Key/Value Stores, Infiniband/RDMA, Graph Theory, Infrastructure Development, and Algorithms. Aniraj has previously worked as a Senior Software Engineer at LinkedIn, where he was one of the lead developers of the metadata layer driving research and development of newer solutions. He has also worked on a massively distributed time-series database developed in-house as the next-generation metrics storage platform at LinkedIn. Aniraj has experience with Golang, Databases (from Postgres to Vitess, compressed bitmaps, and everything in between), Python, Vitess, Postgres, and MySQL. Aniraj has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah, where he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant with Utah Scalable Computer Systems Lab. He researched how design decisions for in-memory databases influence their performance on modern network hardware, advised by Prof. Ryan Stutsman. Aniraj also holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Govt. Model Engineering College, Cochin.
