Apurva is a Data & Applied Scientist II at Microsoft AI with a passion for exploring the intersections between Computer Science and Mathematics. With 2.86 years of relevant experience, he is currently focused on Machine Learning and is thoroughly enjoying it. Apurva's past experience includes working as a Software Development Engineer Intern at Amazon AI, where he was a part of the Amazon Lex team. He researched and prototyped improvements to Lex's NLP using Neural Text Normalization and designed and implemented three new customer-facing APIs. He also worked as a Deep Learning R&D Intern (Year-Round) at Sandia National Laboratories, where he researched adversarial attacks on machine learning models with a focus on defenses. Apurva has a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (Machine Learning and Data Science) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics, both from the University of Southern California. He also attended a Summer Session in Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley.
