Bhushan Gawde is a skilled Computer Science graduate currently pursuing his Master of Science degree in Informatics (CS) at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Prior to his graduate studies, he worked for Samsung R&D India, Bangalore as a Senior Software Engineer for three years. During his tenure at Samsung, Bhushan contributed to the design, development, and commercialization of Human Portrait-based algorithms for numerous flagship and mid-tier smartphones. He worked on multiple features/projects that have been integrated into the front camera Portrait Mode of Samsung's flagship smartphones and are being used every day by millions of users worldwide. Bhushan's technical skills include C, C++, Python, Android NDK, JNI, Malloc debug, Gperftools, OpenCV, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Computational Photography, Image Processing, Pytorch, Machine Learning, OpenCL, Arm Neon Intrinsics(SIMD), Agile/Scrum methodology, Git, Perforce, and Android Studio. Bhushan is currently working as a Software Engineer at Samsung, where he received an opportunity to travel to Samsung HQ in South Korea for three months. He achieved significant knowledge about the system level design of the front camera 'Portrait' mode and worked on the integration of the Single Camera Bokeh solution into the Portrait mode of Samsung's flagship and innovative smartphones, which has been used in features like 'Blur', 'Big Circle', and 'Color Point' effects. Bhushan solved more than 100 unique production issues encountered during the development and commercialization of the Bokeh Solution, and his contributions to his team in the form of research and development, and efficient co-work with HQ counterparts, earned him the prestigious ‘Samsung Citizen Award.’ Bhushan's past companies include Samsung, where he worked as a Senior Software Engineer, and as a Student Trainee (Intern) in the Visual Intelligence R&D team. He has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Engineering from VJTI and completed his HSC from Shubhamraje Junior College and SSC from Saraswati Education Society's High School and Junior College.
