Chenfei Wang is an experienced software engineer, currently working at Shopee as a Software Engineer in Machine Learning. He has 8.62 years of relevant experience in the field of software engineering. Chenfei's past experiences include internships at Rakuten and Legalicity. During his tenure at Rakuten, he worked on a prototype of a web-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) framework. He achieved SLAM and image feature extraction in the web application by integrating open source SLAM frameworks, computer vision libraries (OpenCV), robot operation system (ROS), and web technologies like webAssembly. He also explored the potential applications and implementations of markerless augmented reality (AR) powered by SLAM technology on the web, and researched the latest web-based AR techniques. At Legalicity, Chenfei developed an approach to automatically predict the success of patent applications based on the text description and achieved promising prediction accuracies (up to 89%) for a wide range of patent technology areas. He experimented with a variety of machine learning and NLP techniques (word embedding, BoW, tf-idf, etc.) using a publicly-available dataset from the U.S. Patent Office covering over two million of U.S. patent applications. He incorporated the patent prediction capability to the company’s existing patent analysis product and further added functionality to make suggestions on the problematic language in the patent text. Chenfei holds a Master of Science in Applied Computing from the University of Toronto and a B.Eng. First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. His tech stack includes Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Web Development, Computer Vision, OpenCV, Mobile Development, and NLP.
