Darshan Jayarama is a MongoDB Dual Certified Professional with over 10 years of experience in database management, consulting, and technical support. Currently working as a Senior Technical Services Engineer at MongoDB, he is responsible for delivering technical support solutions for MongoDB ecosystems across a variety of environments involving localized networks, distributed systems, and AWS. Darshan is well-versed in MongoDB CRUD operations, document-based data modeling, and designing collections and documents. He has hands-on experience in physical collection creation, access pattern tuning, sharding implementation, index creation, and debugging query execution to obtain optimum database performance. Darshan is experienced in MongoDB security, detecting performance problems using Mongo Profiler, shell scripts for monitoring, and automating routine tasks with his own scripts and open-source tools. He is proficient in defragmentation, query fine-tuning, backup and restores, database health checks, index rebuild, maintenance, writing best practices documents, log rotation/maintenance, segregation of duties, disk usage/CPU/memory check alerting, database hardening, designing DR/COB plans, database profiling, locks, memory usage, and more. Darshan has also worked as an ITO Service Delivery Consultant at Hewlett Packard, where he monitored, upgraded, and tuned MySQL and Progress databases for better performance, and provided 24x7 production support for both. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science from Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering. Darshan is proficient in MongoDB, MySQL, AWS, Python, and backend development. He is a leader at the MongoDB User Group (MUG) in Bangalore and has contributed to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
