Gautam Narula is a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with a passion for backend engineering, ranking systems, and distributed systems. He has over 4 years of relevant experience and is currently working at Compass as a Machine Learning Engineer on the AI Services team. Gautam is responsible for building infrastructure for training, evaluating, and deploying ML models as microservices. His notable projects include launching the Similar Homes and Recommended for You recommended listings microservice, migrating existing model training and inference jobs from ad hoc scripts and notebooks to Kubeflow pipelines, launching the data inference microservice in new locales to allow an ML model to autocomplete listing data on behalf of agents, and launching the Likely to Sell service to predict which agent contacts are most likely to sell their homes. Gautam has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Computer Science from the University of Georgia. He has previously worked as a Software Development Engineer (Intern) at Amazon, where he worked on the AWS Deep Learning team and the AWS Elastic File Service team. Gautam donates all the profits from physical and electronic book sales to the Innocence Project, a non-profit that works to exonerate wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing. He has also previously worked with Amnesty International on death penalty issues.
