Janilya Baizack is a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer with a passion for creative problem-solving and an entrepreneurial spirit. With almost six years of relevant experience, she has worked for both Saamsa and codesmith, where she currently holds the position of Software Engineer. At Saamsa, Janilya was responsible for building a desktop GUI application to visualize, monitor, and customize load-balancing of event streaming in a Kafka client. She utilized a native, platform-agnostic Electron framework with its access to Chromium and Node.js runtime environment to harness its performance, security, web UI/UX tool availability, and codebase reusability. She also established communication between Saamsa and the testing Kafka app via KafkaJS to track metadata on producers, consumers, brokers, topics, and partitions. Furthermore, she employed React Hooks to create reusable functional components and designed a request-response flow in adherence to the decoupled and modularized middleware design pattern. Janilya's expertise extends to configuring sqlite3 database engine to store client’s Kafka metadata in relational databases that are compact, self-contained, highly portable, yet still ACID compliant and vertically scalable. She adhered to CI/CD by implementing Travis CI, verifying GitHub automation rules, hosting the app as an AWS (EC2) instance, and monitoring its health in Elastic Beanstalk. Additionally, she containerized the testing Kafka app using Docker and orchestrated all the containers using Docker-compose for better team workflow, faster deployment, scalability, and agile test-driven development. Before working as a Software Engineer, Janilya was an Operations Supervisor at Cornell University Survey Research Institute. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from South Fort Myers High School and another Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.
