Joe Thomas is a seasoned investor and Managing Director at Janeiro Investments, a family office that invests in venture capital and syndicate funds. With over 17 years of relevant experience in the industry, Joe has developed expertise in sourcing healthcare investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and presenting top investment opportunities to partner meetings and investment committees. Before joining Janeiro Investments, Joe worked as an Associate at vu venture partners, where he reviewed pitch decks, met with founders and investors, and conducted deep due diligence of market sizing, team’s ability to execute, go-to-market strategy, key risks, business model, key metrics, financial modeling, competitive landscape, customer and investor interviews, cap table and waterfall analysis, term sheets, and investor documents. He worked closely with the General Partners, Sky Fernandes and Andrew Zalasin, who have over 35 years of VC experience and invested in 10+ unicorns including Beyond Meat, Facebook, Oculus, Oscar, Twitter, Uber, Venmo, and Wish. At Janeiro Investments, Joe manages the firm's venture and syndicate fund investments, including Great North Labs, RareBreed Ventures, CanopyBoulder, Back$tage Capital, Blackrock Neurotech, Duly Health and Care, Finless Foods, NFT Pro, Odyssey, X-Therma, Wayflyer, Ellipsis Health, TRIPP, Lumen, Flower Co, FLYR, Contraline, Fintor, Qunomedical, Lora DiCarlo, Civic Eagle, Potli, and Cloud Creamery. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus on Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. He also completed the Interior Design ACE Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
