Mohamad Charafeddine is a product and technology executive with over 10 years of experience in startups, scale-ups, and enterprise. He has a strong track record of leading high-performance teams and delivering results. Mohamad has extensive experience in building products from ideation to deployment and up-selling. He is an entrepreneurial-minded self-starter with a continuous learning attitude, problem-solving skills, and impact-oriented mindset. Mohamad's technical and product expertise lies in applied AI at scale using deep learning and reinforcement learning. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Currently, Mohamad is the VP of Product at Careem, where he is leading the product for the Mobility Platform, including Marketplace, Captains (drivers), and Safety. He joined Careem in 2019 and has since stabilized, restructured, and turned around the Engineering organization post a 30% reduction in force due to the COVID business implication. He ended the year with a 100% achievement of all goals. Before joining Careem, Mohamad held various leadership positions at Samsung and Facebook. At Samsung, he was the Director of Technology Planning and responsible for setting the strategy, securing funding, recruiting the product team, and defining key product verticals to pursue. He led and delivered AI applications in manufacturing, digital marketing, and retail. At Facebook, he was a Product TPM at the Core ML team and brought broad impact for business integrity across Facebook's family of apps. Mohamad has a diverse educational background, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
