Muthu Manikandan Baskaran is a computer scientist with more than 14 years of experience in parallel and high-performance computing, compilers, and data analytics. He is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Qualcomm. Muthu has a successful track record of managing and leading projects, as well as publishing technical innovations in high-performance computing and data analytics. He is an expert in grant application writing, technical writing, business development, and customer support. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Muthu worked at Reservoir Labs as a Fellow and Managing Engineer. He was a senior technical member of the R-Stream compiler team, where he developed automatic parallelization and optimization techniques for high-performance parallel computers and power-efficient parallel embedded systems. He was also the primary inventor of multiple Reservoir compiler patents/patent applications and author of multiple peer-reviewed publications. As a project manager and lead, he oversaw R-Stream exascale projects, co-designing and developing techniques to extend R-Stream capability to target future exascale architectures and software stack. Muthu was also the technical lead for the ENSIGN data analytics tool, where he was responsible for cutting-edge tensor analysis solutions and technical support for ENSIGN customers. He was the principal investigator for the ENSIGN Big Data Techniques for Genomic Data project and co-principal investigator for a collaborative research project on applying ENSIGN for analyzing medical data with one of the largest and leading hospitals in the U.S. Muthu holds a PhD in Compilers, High Performance Computing, and Parallel Computing from The Ohio State University, where he was a graduate research associate. He also has a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Muthu's technical skills include research scientist, senior software engineer, and big data. He has a proven ability to lead and manage complex projects and a deep understanding of parallel and high-performance computing, compilers, and data analytics.
