Nadav Rotem is a highly accomplished Engineering Director at Facebook, with over 19 years of relevant experience in the field of computer science. Currently, he is responsible for leading the Server Native Code Team at Facebook, where he supports the development of compilers and high-performance libraries for the native languages that drive Facebook servers. Nadav's team is responsible for developing Clang, Rustc, Zstandard compression, JEmalloc, Folly, BOLT, LLD linker, and works with the C++ and Rust communities on evolving the languages. He also oversees the development of performance and productivity features. Prior to this role, Nadav started and supported a group that built machine learning compilers and tools for hardware accelerators (Glow) as the Director of AI Backend Compiler Team at Facebook. His team was responsible for the development of compilers and performance tools, collaboration with external hardware vendors, new hardware bringup, analysis of machine learning algorithm, and numeric optimizations. Nadav also started a new team that built Hermes, a JavaScript virtual machine for React Native, as the Manager of Hermes JavaScript VM at Facebook. His team was responsible for the development of the VM and for improving the performance of JavaScript on mobile devices. Hermes is now used to accelerate React Native on products such as the Instagram and Facebook apps. Nadav holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Haifa. His technical expertise includes ML, AI, Javascript, Backend, Pytorch, React Native, and Mobile. With his extensive experience and expertise, Nadav is an exceptional leader who has made significant contributions to the development of cutting-edge technologies at Facebook.
