Paul Irish is a Staff Software Engineer at Google Chrome with over 18 years of relevant experience in software engineering, web design, and mobile development. He is passionate about making the web fun and helping developers deliver awesomeness on the mobile web. Currently, Paul is working on performance tooling in Google Chrome, including Lighthouse and the Chrome DevTools. He is dedicated to helping developers make the web faster and more efficient. In the past, Paul has worked with the jQuery project as a Board Member, where he helped produce videos for the 14 Days of jQuery and moved the API documentation to its new home for the 1.4 release. As a member of the developer relations team, he ensured that the expectations of developers were being met in jQuery itself, helping the core team to communicate clearly and effectively. Paul has also worked with Molecular, Inc. as a Senior Consultant for Emerging Interactions. He brought the influence of Web 2.0 into the agency's work and approach, accelerated the adoption of ajax interaction design patterns within the agency, led the front-end development team to a spotlight role within the organization, and implemented (and evangelized) a blog and wiki as core business tools. He developed excellent working relationships with clients and established himself as a trusted advisor with thought leadership as well as a coveted designer and developer. Paul's educational background includes a degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he graduated in 2004. His tech stack includes skills in software engineering, web design, mobile development, JavaScript, frontend development, and testing.
