Rahila Syed is a highly experienced Senior Software Development Engineer with over 10 years of experience in the field. She is currently working as a Performance Engineer at 2ndquadrant, where she is responsible for developing features, bug fixes, testing, and performance measurement of BDR, a PostgreSQL extension that provides Bi-directional multi-master replication solution for PostgreSQL. Rahila has a keen interest in resolving customer queries regarding database and its performance. She has worked on enhancing PostgreSQL isolation test harness to run tests concurrently on multiple data centers of a replicated database. She has also automated testing of the BDR cluster using Ansible on TPAexec, an orchestration tool that uses Ansible to build Postgres clusters. Additionally, she has worked on resolution of customer queries encountered while using PostgreSQL and BDR in their applications. Prior to her current position, Rahila worked as a Senior Software Engineer at EnterpriseDB, where she contributed to the development of various features and bug fixes for PPAS (EDB version of PostgreSQL). She also worked on Oracle compatibility features, statistics collection and monitoring features, edbldr bug fixes, and timely resolution of various types of customer queries. Before that, Rahila worked as a Software Engineer at NTT Data, where she contributed to the development of features, bug fixes, automation of performance measurement, research, and community discussions of PostgreSQL and its extensions. She developed a feature to report progress of VACUUM in PostgreSQL and worked on automating measurement and analysis of PostgreSQL performance and resource usage using tpc-c and tpc-b benchmarks. Rahila holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Information Technology from Pune Institute of Computer Technology. She has a strong tech stack that includes skills such as Software Engineering, testing, Ansible, infra, Postgres, and Research Scientist.
