Rahul Chawathe is a highly experienced engineer currently working at Google as a Software Engineer. He has a proven track record of designing and delivering end-to-end software solutions in distributed systems, data pipelines, and networking. Rahul's technical expertise includes Java, Python, C, Linux, Kafka, HBase, Postgres, ElasticSearch (ES)(ELK), AWS (DynamoDB, SQS, KDA, S3, Lambda), Keras/Tensorflow, RNN, CNN (AI/ML), Kubernetes (K8s), Calico, AWS, GCP, VMC (on AWS), vRNI, vROPs, Network Operating Systems (NXOS), VxLAN, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, SR, SRv6, MPLS, NAT, TCP/IP, HTTP, and Networking ASICs (Broadcom, Cisco). Rahul's career spans over 18 years, during which he has held several leadership positions in renowned tech companies. Before joining Google, he worked at Amazon as a Principal Engineer, where he learnt about retail pricing at a billion scale and designed a fast path of pricing updates for critical items. Prior to Amazon, Rahul worked at VMware as a Staff Engineer II, leading AI-Ops for Network Insight and Data Analytics product and pursuing his passion for end-to-end product design. He also worked at Cisco as an engineering leader in the end-to-end design of network switching software. Rahul completed his education from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and Rice University, where he obtained a B.Tech. + M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering (Communication & Signal Processing) and an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, respectively. Rahul's technology interests include distributed systems, big data pipeline, and streaming analytics. He is a skilled product designer and manager with experience in infra, deep learning, designer, microservices, and UI. Rahul is excited to return to his calling and pursue his passion at Google.
