Rahul Kumar is a Lead Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore, specializing in Intelligence Services Team (Machine Learning/ NLP). With over 7 years of relevant experience, he has worked on a variety of projects involving NLP, Java, ML, Tensorflow, Keras, AI, RNN, language models, Python, Mobile, test, Research Scientist, Neural Networks, Software Engineer, PHP, iOS, and Web. Rahul has been an integral part of the team that worked on the first global release of Bixby, a virtual assistant that uses NLP. He played a crucial role in tuning sub-domains for better NLU results, mentored interns, and updated grammar. He also developed a noble algorithm for Natural Language Understanding (NLU), which was published and used in the Chat bot project released in Samsung phones in SE Asia. He used Deep Neural Networks for various solutions, including Sequence tagger - RNN-Crf, Document Similarity, and more. As a Project Lead, Rahul designed and developed a Multi-task Learning architecture for end point detection of a sentence. He used NLP, Java, Python, Multi-Lingual Language Model, Transformer, and Edge Computing for this project. He also worked on NLU Classifier for Indian English, where he added Hinglish to the first release of Bixby in Indian English. He focused on Model Interpretability and Explainability with LIME and SHAP. Rahul has also mentored college students on Data Augmentation for Visual Question Answering, focusing on research and development. Before joining Samsung, he worked as a Software Engineer at Cisco, where he added new features and maintained Legacy IOS-XE. He also worked on Java applications to detect abnormality in network packet movement, modified open source luajit for runtime biendian api testing, and revived old java tools and implemented additional supports. He has also worked as a Summer Intern in the Mobile Technology LTE(4G) Group of Cisco. Rahul completed his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, in 2014. He has received a patent and publication and has received the Samsung Citizen Award. Rahul is a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for NLP and ML, and he is always looking to expand his knowledge and expertise in this field.
