Sanjay Awatramani is a highly skilled and experienced software architect with over 16 years of industry experience. He has a proven track record in designing and developing distributed data processing and analytics systems for high volume and velocity data. Sanjay is an expert in Kafka, Redis, SQLStream, Kubernetes, Docker, and Java. He has successfully handled data sizes of 5M events/sec in production and has architected systems for redundancy, high availability, and exactly once processing. Sanjay is currently working as a Staff Software Engineer at Confluent, where he is involved in stream governance and data governance for event streaming. Previously, he worked as a Senior Principal Engineer at Guavus, where he was the architect for multiple solutions built under MIQ umbrella and a technical mentor for two agile squads. He designed an 850+ node geographically distributed cluster to process 5M events/sec and a cache-backed highly available web service for response times in single-digit milliseconds. He also designed end-to-end exactly once across a 3-stage pipeline and improved the aggregation mechanism for low cardinality data resulting in 2x memory savings. At Net-Square, Sanjay worked as a Software Architect for ServerDefender VP, a web application firewall for applications running on IIS Server. He was the product owner for ServerDefender and managed the Dev & QA team and planned for the product roadmap. He played a key role in the design and development of new features and was instrumental in improving stability, performance, and increasing throughput. Sanjay holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation from L.D. College of Engineering and Gujarat University. He has expertise in various programming languages such as Java, Scala, C++, VC++, C# .Net, ASP, and VB. He also has experience with big data technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Hadoop, Spark Streaming, Yarn, Zookeeper, Hive, Avro, and AWS. Sanjay has worked with various middleware such as Kafka, Oracle JMS, and IBM MQ. He also has experience working with databases such as Redis, Cassandra, CockroachDB, Clickhouse, Hbase, Druid, Hive, Impala, InfiniDB, Postgres, Netezza, and Oracle SQL Server.
