Sarvjeet Singh is a Principal Engineer / Director at Google Research, where he is the founder and lead of Conversational Recommendations (ConvRec) effort. With over 14 years of relevant experience, he is an expert in the areas of Recommendations, Natural Language Understanding, Speech, and Simulations. Currently, at Google, Sarvjeet and his team partner with teams in Google Research, YouTube, Assistant, Cloud, and Search orgs to work on problems related to user personalization and recommendations. His team relies heavily on NLP, Deep learning, Matrix factorization, Logistic regression, Graph-based algorithms, and algorithms built on top of embedding models to develop high impact machine learning algorithms. Prior to joining Google Research, Sarvjeet worked at YouTube as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, where he led a number of projects to delight users through the use of next-gen Machine Learning / AI. His focus areas included Community, comments, notifications, and Abuse. Similarly, at Google, he led a team in the area of large-scale user personalization and recommendations. Under his leadership, the team launched a number of high impact Machine learning algorithms in various Google properties such as YouTube, Play Store, Ads, Google+, Music, and Google Now. Sarvjeet holds a B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an MS and PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University. He is a Research Scientist, Senior Software Engineer, and an expert in ML, Software Engineering, Search, AI, Deep Learning, and NLP.
