Umema Bohari is a dynamic and self-starting systems engineer with a passion for learning new things and solving "wicked" design problems. With over 5 years of relevant experience, she has collaborated across global engineering teams and worked at the interface of mechanical engineering, modeling & simulation, rapid prototyping, production, supply chain, and technical marketing. Her pursuits with Industry 4.0 have enabled her to use domain knowledge in data analytics & ML to develop solutions for Manufacturing & Assembly that would improve throughput by over 30%. Umema is a strong believer in the five golden rules of any new opportunity, which include owning the job, being proactive, taking calculated risks, collaborating, and never stop learning. She is skilled in 3D modeling & design, data-driven product design, systems engineering, robust design verification & validation, design of experiments, root cause analysis, user interface development, data analysis & applied machine learning. She is proficient in technical tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, LabVIEW, ANSYS FLUENT, SysML, and modeFrontier, and programming skills such as MATLAB, C/C++, Python, Dataiku, and Arduino. Currently working as a Systems Engineer at Apple, Umema has previously worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the Reservoir Monitoring & Control division of Schlumberger Completions. She has also worked as a Graduate Mentor for a multi-disciplinary team of 10 undergraduate students from Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering, as a part of AggiE-Challenge 2017 competition. Her education background includes a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Pune. Umema is a skilled ML practitioner, product designer, researcher, and Python developer who is always on the lookout for interesting and challenging problems that can be solved by good design.
