Varun Maini is a Senior Engineering Manager at Confluent, with over 13 years of experience in product development, software engineering, and operations. Currently, Varun is an Engineering Manager at Sumo Logic, a cloud-native, SaaS data analytics platform that provides operational, security, and business intelligence to users. He leads the development and operations for the data ingest cloud services and installed agents, managing a 9-member team (Backend & Frontend). Prior to Sumo Logic, Varun worked at Adobe as a Computer Scientist 2, where he led the development effort and mentored a team of 5 Devs and 2 QA members for Adobe Photoshop Mix, a mini version of Adobe Photoshop on desktop. He also worked on Adobe Air, Adobe’s AIR application, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. He was the single developer responsible for the entire games module in Adobe AIR and designed REST APIs providing featured and recommended games. In Adobe Acrobat Reader, he worked on creating the initial framework and JNI architecture and implemented key features like text search, bookmarks, and the file browser functionality. Varun also worked at Versata as a Technical Analyst, where he was part of the development team and worked on both back-end and UI for Next Generation Brand Sites, a new website for automobile-based customers like Ford and General Motors. The platform was multi-layered, REST and JSON-based, optimized for search engines, and incorporated with metrics tracking to analyze the site’s traffic flow. Varun holds a Master of Computer Applications and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Delhi University.
