Varun Sapre is a highly motivated and skilled graduate student pursuing his Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of California, Riverside. With a demonstrated history of working in the tech industry, Varun has proven problem-solving skills, a fast learning ability, and experience in working on the full stack. He has in-depth knowledge of Java, Go, Python, and Linux, with experiences in C, C++. His areas of interest include Big Data, Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence. Currently, Varun is working as a Teaching Assistant for CS061 “Machine Organization and Assembly Language” at the University of California, Riverside. He has previously worked as a Computer Science Grader for CS141 - "Intermediate Data Structures & Algorithms" at the same university. Varun's professional experience also includes working as a Big Data and Cloud Engineer Intern at Rakuten Americas. During his internship, he designed and developed an ETL data pipeline from scratch for reducing the volume of application-level metric logs produced by multiple jobs of varying formats. He created a Google DataStudio dashboard for automated summary reports and insights into the logs being stored. Varun achieved an 85% reduction in data volume, resulting in a 99% reduction in the cost of querying, retrieval, and storage of the logs due to the efficiency of BigQuery. He implemented the project using GCP tools - PubSub, Dataflow, BigQuery, DataStudio - in the Java SDK, and Maven. Varun has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from PES University, India. He completed his schooling from National Public School, India. His technical skills include Big Data, Java, Software Engineering, ETL, GCP, and Python. Varun has 2.6 years of relevant experience in the tech industry and strives to maintain a high quality in all his endeavors.
