Vladimir K. is a technically sophisticated and experienced professional with over 20 years of relevant experience in leading the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical large-scale systems. He specializes in search systems, data platforms, large scale distributed systems, machine learning infrastructure, and applications performance monitoring. He has a broad knowledge and hands-on experience in building and operating large scale distributed systems, with a strong international experience. Currently, Vladimir is working as an Engineering Manager for Search ML & AI at Amazon, where he leads the development of Visual Search solutions that allow customers to search for products based on their visual attributes such as color, shape, or texture. Prior to Amazon, Vladimir worked as a Sr. Manager for Search Systems at Walmart, where he built Walmart's petabyte scale search data infrastructure, including near-real-time index generation, data systems for processing and analyzing massive streams of telemetry data, features engineering, and ML workflows orchestration, tools for managing search and data quality. He also led a team of software engineers and provided technical guidance and mentorship to engineers. Before Walmart, Vladimir worked as an Engineering Lead for SaaS for searching, monitoring, and analyzing machine-generated data at Loggly, where he built a multi-tenant logs management service in the cloud. He solved scalability, performance, and fault-tolerance problems for the growing SaaS platform, processing billions of logs daily. He used Java, Kafka, Zookeeper, and Elasticsearch on AWS and on bare-bone hardware. Vladimir holds an Engineer's degree in Robotics and Electrical Engineering from Voronezh State Technical University and a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Systems Engineering from Voronezh Institute of High Technologies. He is currently enrolled in the LEAD Executive Education Program for Organizational Leadership, Strategy, and Innovation at Stanford University, which he is expected to complete in 2022. Vladimir is proficient in several technologies, including Search, AI, ML, Senior Software Engineer, infra, Elastic Search, AWS, Java, and Kafka. He has a proven track record of delivering successful software products and managing all aspects of a software product delivery life cycle, from requirements definition to launch in production. He is a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and has conducted technical talks and established best practices in his previous roles.
