Yang Shi is a Senior Architect of Datastory with over 6 years of experience in Cloud Computing and the large-scale Distributed System area. He has a strong knowledge of Web Development, Distributed System, Data-Intensive System, and Security. His favorite programming languages are C++, Scala, Java, Ruby, and Typescript. Before coming to CMU, Yang worked as an intern at Guangdong Key Laboratory of Information Security Technology for more than 2 years, where he received intensive training in information security. He also worked at Tencent as a Full Stack Engineer for 4 months, which is one of the leading Internet companies in China, and at a startup company as a Full Stack Engineer for 1 year. Yang is a self-driven Engineer who has over 1 year of independent developer experience. Currently, Yang is working at Datastory as a Senior Architect, where he designs the architecture of the Platform that connects data sources with ETL pipeline and analysis/AI services. He also designed the Data Platform infrastructures, like Authentication/Authorization, Service Runtime, and API Gateway for internal and external services, Permission Control for services and data. He built a team from zero to 12 engineers to build a Multi-Media processing pipeline and a SaaS(content-note.com), which processes millions of multimedia(video/audio/text) data and provides content analysis and AI-based content generation services based on NLP, Multimodal Machine Learning. Yang's past experience includes working at Tencent America as a Tech Lead at Immersive Media & AI Products of Tencent Media Lab, where he led an engineering team to build a cloud-based Media & Multimodal AI Service. He also worked at a stealth mode startup company as a Senior Software Development Engineer, where he designed, developed, and operated distributed systems, real-time streaming and batch processing data infrastructure in autonomous driving scenarios. He also led the product design and development of a ride-sharing and operation system for autonomous driving vehicles. Yang holds a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from Sun Yat-Sen University. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from Sun Yat-Sen University.
