Things that are different at Tech Mahindra
- Negative marking has been reported in recent drives for aptitude and technical MCQs. Don't guess blindly.
- No going back: you can't return to earlier questions.
- Automata Fix: most of the code is already written. You find and fix the bug or complete the missing logic.
- Psychometric test: about 70 personality questions. There are no right answers, but be consistent.

- A sum doubles in 5 years at simple interest. What is the rate?
Interest = principal in 5 years, so the rate is 100/5 = 20% per year. - Pointing to a man, Riya says, "He is the son of my father's only son." Who is he to Riya?
Her father's only son is her brother, so the man is her nephew. - Find the next term: A, C, F, J, ?
The gaps are +2, +3, +4, so +5 gives O.
Tech Mahindra essay tips
- Write 3 short paragraphs: your view, two examples, and a conclusion.
- Stay inside the word limit. Going over can lose marks.
- Typical topics: technology in daily life, remote work, the role of youth in India's growth, and a short story from a given prompt.
Automata Fix: how it works
You get code that is mostly written but has a bug or a missing part. For example:
Problem: A function should return the sum of an array, but it returns a wrong value.
Bug: The loop runs for i = 1 to n instead of starting from 0, so the first element is skipped.
Fix: Start the loop at index 0.
Common bugs include off-by-one loops, wrong comparison operators (< vs <=), uninitialised variables and wrong return values.

- Write a query to get the top 3 salaries.

Memory that is allocated but never freed.
Networking and telecom basics
Tech Mahindra has large telecom clients, so basic networking questions are common.
