How CTC becomes in-hand salary
Example: ₹12 L CTC, basic 50%, PF 12% of basic, new regime.
CTC → Gross
Remove employer PF (₹72,000) and gratuity if it’s in your CTC. Gross ≈ ₹11.28 L
Gross → Taxable
New regime: subtract the ₹75,000 standard deduction. Taxable ≈ ₹10.53 L → ₹0 tax (under ₹12 L)
Taxable → In-hand
Subtract your PF (₹72,000) and professional tax (₹2,400). ≈ ₹10.54 L a year ≈ ₹87,800 a month

Frequently asked questions
How is in-hand salary calculated from CTC?
In-hand = CTC − employer PF − gratuity (if in CTC) − employee PF − professional tax − income tax. Divide by 12 for monthly take-home.
What is the in-hand salary for ₹12 LPA?
With basic at 50% of CTC, PF at 12% of basic and the new regime, ₹12 LPA gives roughly ₹85,000–₹88,000 a month. Enter your exact numbers above, since basic % and PF choices change it.
Is income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free in FY 2026-27?
Under the new regime, taxable income up to ₹12 L has zero tax thanks to the Section 87A rebate. For salaried people the ₹75,000 standard deduction means a gross salary of about ₹12.75 L can be tax-free.
Which is better for me: new or old tax regime?
The old regime only wins if you claim large deductions (80C, HRA, home loan interest, 80D). The result shows what the other regime would give, so you can compare them side by side.
What is the difference between CTC and gross salary?
CTC is the total cost to the company, including employer PF and gratuity. Gross salary is CTC minus those, i.e. what is paid out before your PF and tax are deducted.
Why is my in-hand so much lower than CTC ÷ 12?
Employer PF and gratuity sit inside CTC but never reach your bank. Then employee PF, professional tax and income tax are cut every month. The breakup bar above shows where each rupee goes.
How do I compare two job offers?
Use the 'Compare 2 offers' tab. Enter both CTCs and basic %, and see which one pays more in hand every month.
