Capgemini Interview Questions 2026: Game-Based Aptitude, Pseudocode and HR (With Answers)

Capgemini interview questions

Capgemini's fresher process is different from most IT companies. Instead of a normal aptitude test, you play short brain games. Then there is a pseudocode test, sometimes a coding round, and finally a technical and an HR interview.

This guide covers the Capgemini process, how the game-based test works, and 26 commonly asked Capgemini interview questions with short answers.

Capgemini hiring process at a glance

  1. Apply through your college or the Capgemini careers portal.
  2. Game-based aptitude: 6–8 short games, about 45–60 minutes.
  3. Pseudocode / technical MCQs: about 25 questions.
  4. Coding round: mainly for Senior Analyst. Two easy to medium problems.
  5. Technical interview (20–35 minutes): CS basics and your project.
  6. HR interview (15–25 minutes): behavioural questions and fit.

Capgemini roles for freshers

  • Analyst, approx. ₹4 – 4.5 LPA: application support, testing and some development.
  • Senior Analyst, approx. ₹7 – 7.5 LPA: fewer seats, usually development, cloud or digital work. Needs the coding round.

Capgemini usually runs separate drives for each role. Check the drive notice for the exact package.

How the Capgemini game-based test works

Each game tests one skill. You can't really "study" for them, but practice helps a lot. Common game types include:

  • Grid memory: remember which boxes lit up, then repeat the pattern.
  • Number sequences: spot the rule and pick the next number quickly.
  • Switch challenge: work out how symbols were rearranged.
  • Spatial rotation: decide whether two shapes are the same after rotating.
  • Task switching: follow rules that change between rounds.

Tip: Accuracy matters more than speed early on. Read each game's instructions fully before you start. There is usually a short practice round.

Capgemini pseudocode questions (examples)

  1. What does this print? set n = 4; set s = 0; while n > 0: s = s + n; n = n − 1; print s
    4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10.
  2. What does this print? a = 2; b = a * a; a = b + a; print a
    b = 4, so a = 6.
  3. What is the output of 5 & 3 (bitwise AND)?
    101 AND 011 = 001, which is 1.
  4. A function calls itself with n − 1 until n = 0, adding n each time. What is f(3)?
    3 + 2 + 1 + 0 = 6.
  5. What does 10 / 4 give with integer division?
    2.

Expect questions on loops, recursion, bitwise operators, and C-style operators like ++ and modulus.

Capgemini technical interview questions

  1. What is the difference between a compiler and an interpreter?
A compiler translates the whole program at once. An interpreter runs it line by line.
  2. What is the difference between i++ and ++i?
i++ uses the value first, then increments. ++i increments first.
  3. What is a dangling pointer?
A pointer to memory that has already been freed.
  4. What is encapsulation?
Keeping data and the methods that use it together, and hiding internal details.
  5. What is the difference between a primary key and a unique key?
Both are unique, but a unique key can allow one null and a table can have many unique keys.
  6. What is a deadlock and how do you prevent it?
Processes waiting on each other forever. Prevent it by ordering resources or using timeouts.
  7. What is paging in an operating system?
Splitting memory into fixed-size blocks so programs don't need continuous memory.
  8. What is software testing? Name some types.
Checking that software works as expected. Types include unit, integration, system and regression testing.
  9. What is the difference between verification and validation?
Verification asks "are we building it right?". Validation asks "are we building the right thing?".
  10. What is cloud computing?
Using computing resources over the internet instead of your own servers.

Capgemini coding questions

  1. Find the second smallest number in an array.
  2. Check whether a string contains only digits.
  3. Convert a decimal number to binary.
  4. Count how many times each word appears in a sentence.
  5. Move all zeros in an array to the end.
  6. Check whether brackets in a string are balanced.

Capgemini HR and behavioural questions

Capgemini's HR round is structured. Use the STAR method (situation, task, action, result).

  1. Tell me about yourself.
Keep it under 90 seconds, ending with why Capgemini.
  2. Tell me about a time you worked in a team.
Pick a real project and focus on your part.
  3. Tell me about a time you failed.
Be honest, and spend most of the answer on what you learned.
  4. Why Capgemini?
Mention global projects, the European client base and training.
  5. Are you open to relocation and any technology?
    Show flexibility.

How to prepare for Capgemini in 2 weeks

  • Days 1–4: Practise online brain games (memory, sequences, rotation) for 20 minutes a day.
  • Days 5–9: Pseudocode and C output questions daily.
  • Days 10–12: CS basics and 2 easy coding problems a day. See our software engineering interview questions guide.
  • Days 13–14: Prepare 3–4 STAR stories for the HR round.
