4.5 LPA In-Hand Salary: How Much You Get Per Month (FY 2026-27)

4.5 LPA in-hand salary per month breakup for FY 2026-27

Last updated: October 2026 · FY 2026-27 tax rules

₹4.5 LPA is a very common offer for freshers in IT services, analytics support and operations roles, and for people a year or two into their careers. It sounds like ₹37,500 a month, but that is not what you will see on payday.

Here is the real monthly number and how it is worked out.

4.5 LPA in-hand salary: the short answer

  • Monthly in-hand (new regime): ₹31,898 – ₹32,798
  • Yearly in-hand: ₹3,82,778 – ₹3,93,578
  • Income tax: ₹0 under the new regime
  • Gross monthly salary (before PF, tax): ₹34,348 – ₹34,798
  • Assumes: basic pay is 50% of CTC, no variable pay, ₹200 a month professional tax

Why a range and not one number? It depends on how your company calculates PF. If PF is 12% of your full basic pay, you get the lower figure. If PF is capped at the statutory wage limit of ₹15,000 a month (₹1,800 a month from you, ₹1,800 from the company), you get the higher one. Your offer letter or first payslip will tell you which applies.

4.5 LPA salary breakup: from CTC to in-hand

Here is how a ₹4.5 lakh CTC turns into money in your bank account. Two parts of CTC never reach your monthly salary: the employer's PF contribution (it goes to your PF account) and gratuity (paid only if you stay 5 years).

Component (per year)PF on full basicPF capped at ₹1,800/month
CTC (cost to company)₹4,50,000₹4,50,000
Basic pay (50% of CTC)₹2,25,000₹2,25,000
− Employer PF (goes to your PF account)−₹27,000−₹21,600
− Gratuity (4.81% of basic, paid after 5 years)−₹10,822−₹10,822
= Gross salary₹4,12,178₹4,17,578
− Employee PF (12%)−₹27,000−₹21,600
− Professional tax−₹2,400−₹2,400
− Income tax (new regime, incl. 4% cess)₹0₹0
= In-hand per year₹3,82,778₹3,93,578
= In-hand per month₹31,898₹32,798

Why is the tax zero? Your taxable salary is ₹4,12,178 minus the ₹75,000 standard deduction, which is ₹3,37,178. Under the new regime, the Section 87A rebate wipes out all tax when taxable income is ₹12 lakh or less. That rule is unchanged for FY 2026-27.

What your monthly payslip will look like

A typical payslip at this salary, with PF on full basic. Companies split the non-basic part differently, so your HRA and special allowance may not match, but the total and the in-hand will be close.

Payslip linePer month
Basic pay₹18,750
HRA₹7,500
Special allowance₹8,098
Gross earnings₹34,348
Employee PF−₹2,250
Professional tax−₹200
Income tax (TDS)₹0
Net pay₹31,898

Old vs new tax regime at 4.5 LPA

Stick with the new regime. You already pay zero tax there. Under the old regime, even with the full ₹1.5 lakh of Section 80C investments, your monthly in-hand would be about ₹31,898 (the same, because income this low is tax-free in the old regime too).

Who earns 4.5 LPA in India?

The ₹3.4–4.5 LPA band is the standard 'service tier' for fresher hiring at large IT companies in 2026. Support, testing, data operations and junior developer roles at mid-size firms also cluster here.

Non-tech: banking associates, sales executives and HR executives with 1–2 years often earn about this much.

Is 4.5 LPA a good salary?

It is a fair fresher package. About ₹32,000–33,000 a month works in tier-2 cities and is manageable in a metro if you share accommodation.

Compared to ₹4 LPA, the extra ₹50,000 of CTC adds roughly ₹4,000 a month to your in-hand, because none of it is taxed.

Growing from 4.5 LPA

Use the first year to get very good at one thing that shows up in job descriptions: SQL and Excel for analysts, a test automation tool for QA, or one cloud platform for support engineers. That is what turns a ₹4.5 LPA start into a ₹7–8 LPA second job.

Frequently asked questions

What is the in-hand salary for 4.5 LPA per month?
Around ₹31,898 – ₹32,798 a month under the new tax regime, assuming basic pay is 50% of CTC and there is no variable pay. You pay no income tax.

Is 4.5 LPA taxable?
No income tax under the new regime. Taxable income is far below ₹12 lakh, so the 87A rebate makes it zero.

What is 4.5 LPA per month before deductions?
₹37,500 is CTC divided by 12. Gross salary (after removing employer PF and gratuity) is about ₹34,000–35,000, and in-hand is about ₹32,000–33,000.

Does variable pay change my 4.5 LPA in-hand?
Yes. If part of your CTC is a performance bonus, it is paid once or twice a year, not monthly. Take it out of the CTC before you calculate the monthly figure, then expect the bonus as a lump sum (taxed when paid).

Why is my in-hand lower than this?
Common reasons: a lower basic % (PF and gratuity eat more), group health insurance deducted from salary, meal cards or NPS taken from your pay, or a state with different professional tax. Your payslip shows each one.

How we calculated this

All figures use FY 2026-27 rules under the Income-tax Act, 2025, which kept the same slabs as last year: a ₹75,000 standard deduction and full rebate up to ₹12 lakh taxable income in the new regime; a ₹50,000 standard deduction in the old regime; 4% health and education cess. We assume basic pay is 50% of CTC (the new labour codes push most companies to at least 50%), gratuity at 4.81% of basic inside CTC, employee and employer PF at 12%, and ₹2,400 a year professional tax. Your actual numbers depend on your salary structure, so treat these as a close estimate, not a payslip.
