AI Networking for Job Seekers: How AI Introductions Work (and When to Use Them)

AI Networking for Job Seekers

Last updated: 31 October 2026

Most jobs don't go to the person who applied first. They go to the person someone vouched for. That is why networking works, and why most people hate it: it takes time, nerve and luck to reach the right person.

A new kind of tool is trying to change that. AI "superconnectors" chat with you, understand what you need, and introduce you to people who can help. Here is how they work and whether they are worth your time.

The short version: AI networking tools chat with you on WhatsApp, email or voice, learn your goals, and introduce you to relevant people only when both of you agree. They are early, mostly US-focused, and best used alongside your own outreach.

Why networking matters so much for jobs

Data from Ashby, a hiring software company that studied over 38 million applications from 2021 to 2024, shows how big the gap is. Referrals made up about 1% of applications, but 40% of referred candidates reached an interview, against 3% of people who applied directly. That is roughly 13 times the interview rate.

In India, LinkedIn now has more than 160 million members (PTI, September 2025). Everyone is reachable, but that also means everyone is busy. A warm introduction cuts through.

How AI introductions work

  1. You talk to the AI. You explain your role, experience and what you want: a job, a mentor, advice on a switch.
  2. It searches its network. The AI looks across everyone it has spoken to for people who fit.
  3. It asks the other person first. This is called double opt-in. Nobody gets an intro they didn't agree to.
  4. It makes the intro. Usually a short message or email with context on both sides.

What AI networking is good for

  • Finding people in your exact domain, such as "a data engineer who moved from banking to fintech".
  • Getting past cold outreach. A warm intro with context gets more replies than a cold DM.
  • Career switches, where you need advice from someone who has done it.

What to watch out for

  • Privacy. You share a lot about yourself. Read what the tool stores and who sees it. At Boardy's own launch event, attendees raised concerns about meeting data (EO Magazine, September 2026).
  • Network size in India. An AI can only introduce you to people it knows. Check whether its users are in your city and industry.
  • Quality over volume. One relevant intro beats ten random ones.

Do it yourself too

FAQs

What is AI networking?

Using AI tools that learn your goals and introduce you to relevant people, such as hiring managers, peers or mentors, usually with both sides agreeing first.

What does double opt-in mean?

The AI asks both people before making an introduction. Nobody receives an intro they didn't agree to.

Is Boardy available in India?

You can reach it on WhatsApp and LinkedIn, but its network appears US-centric. India coverage isn't confirmed.

Is AI networking better than LinkedIn?

It's a complement. LinkedIn lets you reach anyone; an AI connector tries to find the right person and make a warm intro.

Does Day make introductions?

Not today. Day, Weekday's AI job agent, finds matching jobs and applies for you on WhatsApp.
