Business Analyst Salary in India 2026: Fresher to Senior, City and Company-Wise

Business analyst salary in India 2026

Last updated: October 2026

Business analysts sit between the business and the tech team. They figure out what needs to be built and why, write it down clearly, and make sure what gets built actually solves the problem. It is a great role for people who like both people and problems.

It also pays well once you have some experience. Here is a clear breakdown for 2026.

Quick answer

  • Fresher: ₹4.5–7.5 LPA
  • Senior (75th–90th percentile): ₹18.7–28.6 LPA
  • Highest-paying city: Bangalore

What business analysts earn at well-known companies

Median total pay reported by employees on Glassdoor India (October 2026). These are mostly early and mid-career figures, so treat them as a reality check rather than a ceiling.

  • Deloitte: ₹8 LPA
  • EXL Service: ₹8 LPA
  • Accenture: ₹7 LPA

Business analyst vs data analyst

People mix these up all the time, and the pay is close at the start. The difference is in the work:

  • Business analyst: gathers requirements, maps processes, writes user stories and works with product and engineering teams.
  • Data analyst: pulls and analyses data, builds dashboards and answers questions with numbers.

Many of the best-paid BAs combine both: they can write a clear requirement and check the data behind it. Compare the numbers in our data analyst salary guide.

Skills that push your salary up

What raises a BA's pay:

  • Requirement writing: user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps.
  • SQL and Excel to back requirements with data.
  • Tools: Jira, Confluence, Visio or Lucidchart; Power BI is a bonus.
  • Domain knowledge: banking, insurance, healthcare and SaaS BAs earn more.
  • Agile experience, ideally as product owner or proxy PO.
  • Certifications like ECBA, CCBA or CBAP help with senior roles.

CTC vs in-hand: what you actually take home

Offer letters quote CTC, but your bank account sees something smaller. Take a business analyst offer of ₹8 LPA with no variable pay. If PF is calculated on a basic of 50% of CTC, your monthly in-hand is roughly ₹58,500. If your company caps PF at ₹1,800 a month (many do), it is closer to ₹63,000.

Under the new tax regime, salaried people with taxable income up to ₹12.75 lakh (after the ₹75,000 standard deduction) pay no income tax, so at this level PF and professional tax are the main deductions. Variable pay, insurance and gratuity can lower the monthly number further. Our guide on CTC vs in-hand salary walks through a full payslip.

Where a business analyst career leads

The BA role is a strong launch pad. Common next steps are:

  1. Senior BA / lead BA on larger programmes.
  2. Product owner, then product manager: one of the most common and best-paid moves.
  3. Consulting roles at Big 4 and strategy firms.
  4. Analytics, for BAs who enjoy the data side most.

How we put these numbers together

Figures are approximate annual CTC in Indian rupees (LPA = lakh per annum) as of October 2026. We combined employee-reported salaries from Glassdoor India with 2025–26 hiring data published by Instahyre and Hyring, and cross-checked them against published industry salary guides. Where sources disagreed, we show a range instead of one number. Actual offers depend on the company, your interview performance and how well you negotiate.
