Deloitte in India hires freshers into two main streams: USI (technology delivery) and consulting / advisory. Both start with an online assessment and a spoken English test called Versant. After that, tech candidates face a technical interview, and consulting candidates face a case study.

The Versant English test
Versant is fully automated and scored by AI. You read sentences aloud, repeat what you hear, answer short questions, rebuild jumbled sentences and retell a short story. It is scored out of 80.
- Speak at a natural pace. Rushing hurts your fluency score.
- Don't leave long silences. Say something even if you missed part of the audio.
- Practise repeating sentences after hearing them only once.
Deloitte aptitude questions (examples)
- Revenue grows from ₹80 lakh to ₹100 lakh. What is the growth %?
20/80 = 25%. - A project needs 12 people for 10 days. How many days will 15 people take?
120 person-days / 15 = 8 days. - Data interpretation: a chart shows sales of 4 products. Which product grew fastest?
Compare growth rates (%), not absolute numbers. This is the most common trap.
Deloitte USI technical questions
- What is the difference between SQL and NoSQL databases?
SQL is relational with fixed schemas. NoSQL is flexible and scales horizontally. - Write a query to find the department with the highest average salary.

An application built as small independent services that talk through APIs. - What is ETL?
Extract, transform, load: moving data from sources into a data warehouse. - What is CI/CD?
Continuous integration and delivery: automatically building, testing and deploying code. - Explain OOP with a real example.
For example, a BankAccount class with private balance (encapsulation) and SavingsAccount extending it (inheritance). - What is the difference between a public and a private cloud?
A public cloud is shared infrastructure from a provider. A private cloud is dedicated to one organisation.
Deloitte case study and consulting questions
Consulting candidates get a business problem. Interviewers care about structure, not the "right" answer. Think out loud.
- A retail client's profits fell 15% this year. How would you find out why?
Split profit into revenue (price × volume) and costs (fixed and variable), then dig into whichever changed. - Estimate the number of smartphones sold in India each year.
Start from population, smartphone users and the replacement cycle. State every assumption. - Should a food delivery company enter a new city?
Look at market size, competition, costs, operational fit and expected payback. - A client wants to cut operating costs by 10%. Where do you start?
Map the biggest cost buckets first, then look for quick wins and automation. - How would you present findings to a senior client?
Lead with the answer, then 2–3 supporting points with data, then next steps.

Mention the variety of clients, the learning culture and a specific service line you are interested in. - Tell me about a time you led a team.
